Summer Activities

The Grand Massif is ideal for a summer holiday with an amazing array of outdoor activities to experience.

White Water Rafting

Most rafting begins in Sixt and ends down in Samoens. The experience normally lasts between 2 and 2 1/2 hours. A nice time to go is either first thing in the morning (9.30) or about 4.30 in the afternoon. For the more extreme experience you can try canyoning, rando-rafting or air boating!

Mountain Biking

The Giffre Valley offers 400km of mountain bike (VTT) tracks across the 5 resorts. There are special VTT maps which also advise you of the level of difficulty of the runs. You can bring your bikes up on all the lifts – it is advisable to wear a helmet as some descents are steep and rocky.

Bike hire is available locally.

Try a tandem parapent flight - great fun – you are driven up to Samoens 1600, jump off and land down in the valley at Samoens – simple! It is suitable for all the family from small children to grandparents!

Zip Wire

If you really want to get your heart racing head to Chatel (30 minutes by car) and pay €30 per person to zip between 3 mountains at a speed of 90km per hour. Believe me it is a fantastic experience! If that isn’t enough, at the bottom you can have a go at the” luge” (dry toboggan) much tamer but still great fun. Be warned minimum weight for Zip wire is 35kgs so weigh smaller children to avoid disappointment.
