One of the most photogenic of Alpine animals, spotting a marmot from the lift or out walking is a real treat. They can be found all around the Grand Masif. A large colony lives in Tête Des Saix, just above Morillon/Samoen.
The best time of day is early in the morning or later in the evening when they’re feeding but you can often catch them sunbathing during the day. Marmots are quite timid and a pair of binoculars will let you observe them without disturbing them.
