Savoie Cuisine

A ski holiday is a great excuse to indulge in fantastic French food. After all, you’re going to burn the calories on the slopes the next day! Whether on the slopes or enjoying chef Nicola’s incredible food in the chalet, there are certain dishes you just can’t miss.

Raclette

Not as famous as it’s brother the fondue, it’s just as cheesy and tasty. The name ‘raclette’ is from the French word ‘racler’ which means to scrape. A round Raclette of cheese is heated on a special machine and the melted cheese scraped onto your plate to eat with gorgeous local charcuterie and salad.

Tartiflette

One of my friends describes Tartiflette as a heart attack on a plate but it’s worth it! Bacon lardons, cream, potatoes, garlic and Reblochon cheese are baked in the oven for several hours until melted into the most wonderfully warming (and filling) lunch.

Pierre-Chaude

Le Michet in Flaine serves the best pierre-chaude (literally “hot rock”) and is available at lunchtime. This traditional mountain way of serving meat they bring out the sizzling hot stone and you cook it yourselves. Fantastic fun and the kids absolutely love it.

Reblochon Quiche

Reblochon and Swiss cheeses with walnuts and bacon. Best enjoyed at the Igloo Restaurant (from the Sairon lift take the Green Marvel run and keep an eye out on your right amongst the trees).

If this isn’t making you hungry I don’t know what will. After a day burning calories on the slopes its [hopefully] guilt free!
